Beautiful birds!

Beautiful build. Engine choice may have been the best and most economical available, but it almost seems like an aberration to have anything but a P&W radial in a Gee Bee. The Wrights had good power-to-weight, but a much less pleasing exhaust note, what I call the Wright Thump. Hornets of 900hp are not very common today, and the equivalent P&W engine hp-wise would be the R-1830 which is a two-row engine which is unlikely to have fit in the application.

I hate to say it but honestly, the P51D Mustang makes all the rest look and sound like antique flying jalopies.

I had the privilege of flying as a passenger in a corporate version of the A-26 out of BUR back in the mid 50’s N1S The A-26 is still my favorite twin, love those R2800 engines

Wow! What a beauty! Any idea of how many of these are still flying in the UK. And where can you go to see them flying please?

One has to say Thankyou to the huge effort to restore this aircraft with its original engine because it must be very precious, and take a lot of Trouble to keep it airworthy. Historically We in Britain maybe have much to be thankful for this, the scourge of the Mk v spit in 1941, although this may seem perverse , because it spurred allied fighter development and put to bed the nonsense that a radial engined fighter could not be faster than a v12 w/cooled type.

Love the B25 Mitchell

I was a firefighter for the Forest Service back in the day. We were on a fire up in the high country outside of Sisters , Oregon. I was with a squad of six on a high line ridge and one of these beauties came up the valley dropping fire retardant BELOW US! Totally wild. We were only a couple hundred feet away as it roared past us....what a blast!

When I learnt about this after the P-51 and P-38 it instantly became my most fav WW2 plane. Stronk and tough.

I just love that sound of the Huey. Very familiar from movies, games and of course from the real world when they were used quite prominently as rescue choppas in Germany.

I got to fly in this plane once, thanks to my grandfather's connections and his time as a Liberator pilot during the war. Incredible experience.
